He was predeceased by: his parents, Willene Nettles (Thompson) and Johnnie Nettles; his wife Beverly Richardson Nettles; his son Donald Scott Nettles, Jr.; and his siblings, Freddie Nettles and Judy Nettles.

He is survived by: his children, LaKisha Nettles of Pascagoula, MS, Leslie Richardson of Pascagoula, MS, Sylvester Johnson of Pascagoula, MS and Delante Weston of Mobile, AL; his grandchildren, Sariah Nettles, Kinsleigh Nettles, Justice Keys, Ajanae Loper and Quadarius Colvin; his great grandchildren, Kace Millender, Ayson Porter and Jacee Loper; and his siblings, Johnnie Nettles of Pascagoula, MS, Timmie Nettles of Columbus, GA, George Nettles of Manhattan, NY, Paula Childs (Dennis) of Oxnard, CA, Alice Brown (Jerry) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Trudy Hollings of Moss Point, MS, May McKinnis (Donald) of Dallas, TX and Willene Jones of Columbus, MS. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
