He was predeceased by: his parents, William Rankins Sr. and Fannie Mae Rankins; his brother William Rankins Jr.; his sister-in-law Georgia Mae Rankins; his sister Annie Mae Chamber; his brother-in-law Henry Chambers; his niece Wanda Rankins-Sipp; and his former wife Shirley Rankins-Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Lett-Rankins; his children, Margaret Rankins-Avery, Shirley Rankins-East (Earl), Alma Rankins-Woodard (Jesse), Linda Scott, Bessie Cates, Booker T. Rankins Jr. and Tonney Moore; his cousin Bill Rankins; and his nieces, Natalie Nettles (Charles), Mae Abrams, Regina Shabazz, Judy Toles, Karen Gary (Frank) and Edna Powe (John). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, a host of niece, nephews, cousins.
