It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Luther Gilbert Varner (Oxford, Mississippi), who passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Christeen Nicholas and Jones Russell Varner. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Jenkins; his daughters, Teresa Hewlett (David McLaurin), Angie Trott (John) and Lisa El-Feraly (Samy); his grandchildren, Brooke Hewlett, Anna Claire McBride (Jonathan), Chandler Hewlett (Erika), Megan Drewrey Baker (Will), Alex Drewrey Logan (Ben), Alison El-Feraly Douglas (Hunter), Sara Grace El-Feraly and Isabella Trott; and his siblings, Wilson Dean Varner (Patty) of Oxford, Donna Varner Dalton (Jackie) of Clinton and Glynda Varner Gray (Luther) of Oxford. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
