With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lillie Beatrice Pegues (Oxford, Mississippi), who passed away on November 29, 2024 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henderson Smith and A. T. Smith; her daughter Sharron Pegues; her daughter-in-law Abigail Pegues; and her siblings, Jake Smith, Effie C. Smith, A. Q. Smith, Ardesie Pegues, Girlender Smith, Mary Lou Ivy and Essie Lee Archie.
She is survived by: her husband Harmon Charles Pegues; her children, Brenda Pegues of Winder, GA, Marilyn Pegues of Oxford, MS, Herman Pegues (Elaine) of Oxford, MS, Mark Pegues of Oxford, MS, Markus Pegues (Lisa) of Oxford, MS, James Pegues (Joyce) of Water Valley, MS and Harmel Pegues (Shanta) of Batesville, MS; and her sister Leona "Sally" Starks (Chester) of Oxford, MS. She is also survived by great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the L. Hodges Funeral Service (721 Damascus Rd, Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building (20 MS-334, Oxford, MS 38655). A burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church (48 Co Rd 247, Oxford, MS 38655).
