He was predeceased by: his parents, Roosevelt Kannada and Edna Pinion Kannada Keller; his daughter Kay Bounds; and his son-in-law John A. "Johnny" Coleman. He is survived by: his wife Venera A. Kannada of Oxford; his children, Gayle Coleman-Yendt (Bill) of Tupelo, MS and Michael Kannada (Fonda) of Oxford, MS; his son-in-law Greg Bounds of Oxford, MS; his brother Max Keller of Madison, MS; and his half-siblings, Peggy Ruth Belveal of Orland, CA and Roy Kannada of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
