He was predeceased by: his parents, Alger Vason Hamrick, Jr. and Rebecca Idol Hollowell Hamrick. He is survived by: his wife Marie Arrowood Hamrick of Oxford, Mississippi; his daughter Alice Porter (Josh) of Oxford, Mississippi; his granddaughters, Makenzie Porter of Oxford, Mississippi and Camryn Porter of Oxford, Mississippi; and his brother Alger Vason Hamrick III (Ann) of Raleigh. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For his public service he received North Carolina's highest civilian honor, being inducted into The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, awarded by the governor to persons who have made significant contributions to their state and communities through their exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments.
