She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver Patterson Simpson and Bertha Corinne Caston Simpson; her husband Willie Ray Varnado; her daughter Susan Terrell; and her granddaughter Jennifer Gill.
She is survived by: her children, Shirly Dianne Smith, Brenda Hoover Martin and Ronald Jewell Hoover (Sherry); and her siblings, Bertie Hughes and Bobby Ray Simpson (Betty). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
