He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Gay and Lora Gay; his former wife Claranell Gay; his daughter Becky Ann Gay; and his brother Darrell Gay.

He is survived by: his wife Audrey Gay; his children, Thresa Adair, Kenneth Gay II (Meghan), Mike Johnson (Angie), Kathy Mills (Richard) and Ken Johnson (Denise); and his brother Roy Gay (Melinda). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
