He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Batten and Bobbie Helen Batten. He is survived by: his wife Tessie; his children, Andy Batten (Angie) of Pass Christian, MS, Beth Covay (Jeff) and Charlie Batten of Long Beach, MS.; his grandchildren, Abby, Amelia, Harper Batten of Pass Christian, MS, Lucy, Henry and Thomas Covay; his siblings, Jenny Wilson (Danny) of Ovila, TX, Amy Holman (Greg) of Bakersfield, CA and Danny Batten (Donde) of Belaire, TX; and his sister-in-law Maridel Besa of Ocean Springs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
