He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Paul King Shannon and Martha Thurmond Shannon; and his brother Johnny Shannon. He is survived by: his son Dr. Paul Jason Shannon; his granddaughter Sophia Shannon; his nieces, Amy Emerson (Aaron) and Leah Shannon; and his nephew Ben Shannon (Ashton).
