She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Leander Theodore Ellis, Sr. and Regina Jackson Ellis; her husband Rev. Milton Leon Upton; her brother Dr. Leander Theodore Ellis, Jr.; her children, Leander Howard Upton and Mildred Elaine Sifford; her siblings, Dr. Gerald Lloyd Ellis and Ellen Ellis Lee; and her grandsons, Milton Anthony Hill and Charles Lee Hill.
