He was predeceased by: his grandmother W. E. Pope; and his parents, Willie Beal Gowdey Hawkins and Hodges Gowdey, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Wilhelmina Fritz Gowdey; his children, Charlotte Garrison (Pat), Diane Lawrence (Kevin), Hodges Gowdey, III (Michelle) and Lamar Gowdey (Jodi); his grandchildren, Joshua Gowdey (Sam), Christopher Lawrence, Spencer Gowdey, Ashley Gowdey Schouten (Mike), Amber Lawrence Taylor (Justin), Shelby Garrison and Nathan Gowdey; his brother Frank Gowdey of Florida; his cousin Pat Pope; and also, Fred, Tom Feeney, Margaret Fish, Marybeth Kellom, Rosina Lepre, Gayden, Hervey, Philip, Tim, Brian Purcell, Hewitt and Bill Barton. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
