He is survived by: his wife Emily June Cates; his children, Tirsea Botts and Harold "Hal" Cates, Jr.; his grandchildren, Robert Fletcher, Sean Fletcher, Bianca Emerick and Olivia Cates; and his great grandchildren, Sophia Fletcher, Conner Emerick, Luke Bixler, Lillian Fletcher, Elena Fletcher and Jared Harris.
