She was predeceased by: her parents, James Gilbert Hillman and Hilda "Hillman" Creel; her husband Ralph Don Buchanan; and her sisters, Barbra Byrd and Doris Byrd.
She is survived by: her sons, Ralph Gilbert Ruth Buchanan (Gil) and Robert Eugene Robin Buchanan (Gene); and her sister Linda Gibson. She is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
