It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joey Gressett of Newton, Mississippi, who passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 51, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Joey may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joey touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He is survived by: his parents, Larry Gressett (Minnie) and Janice Scoggin Gressett; his brothers, Jamie Gressett of Newton and Justin Gressett (Suzanne) of Newton; his niece Abigail Gressett; his stepbrothers, Kevin Bentley (Kristina) of Rose Hill and Keith Bentley (Ashley) of Rose Hill; and his brother Darrin Hathorn of Newton. He is also survived by two aunts, and a host of cousins; his special friend.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home - South (100 Old Hwy 15 Loop, Newton, MS 39345). A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Liberty Baptist Church of Newton (1968 Liberty Church Rd, Newton, MS 39345). A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at the Liberty Cemetery (1968 Liberty Church Rd, Newton, MS 39345).
