He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smithey and Susie Smithey; his grandson Jack Riley Warren; and his siblings, Helen Hill, Boyd Smithey, Bobby Smithey, Junior Smithey, Danny Smithey and Mike Smithey.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Ann Speck Smithey; his daughters, Vikki Lynn McBrayer, Nicky Ann Landreth, Tina Gay Cooper and Kristy Kay Jarvis; his siblings, Joan Diaz, Betty Smithey, Edna Ruth Keith, Brenda Browning and Waymon Smithey; and his grandchildren, Dr. Emily Derrick, Rev. Will Cooper, Anna Brooke Warren, Joseph Jarvis, Dusty Jarvis, Hannah Cooper and Andy McBrayer. He is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.
