He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Harold and Hollis Sappington. He is survived by: his wife Martha Carolyn Ladner Sappington; his sister Mary Alice Sappington Ivy; his children, Jenny Sappington Thompson (Rod) of Memphis, TN and Albert Sappington (Kelli Anne) of Tupelo, MS; and his grandson Trey Thompson. He is also survived by his wife and children.
Recently, he was known for building handmade wooden crosses to give away to customers and friends for encouragement during the Covid-19 pandemic.
