He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Russell and Lena V. Willard Russell; his wife Carolyn Ware Russell of Virginia; his son Steven Eugene Russell; and his brothers, Clay Russell, Clovis Russell and Junior Ray Russell.

He is survived by: his son Kenneth B. Russell (Sandy); his daughter-in-law Debbie Russell; his sister Quinn Quillan; and his grandchildren, Kerri Fava (Chris), Keeley Asmus (Rob), Valerie Norman (John) and Craig Russell. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
