He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lamar Laney and Emma Victoria Kelly Laney; his wife Margaret Elizabeth Sibley Laney; and his siblings, Dorothy Thrash, Faye Laney and Rudolph Laney.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie Michelle Powell (David) of New Albany, Charles Rudon Laney, Jr. (Tara) of Tupelo and Phillip Lee Laney (Alison) of New Albany; his sister Hilda Cheatham of Philadelphia, MS; and his grandchildren, Julie Alexander (Adam), Emma Laney, Maggie Laney, Abby Laney, Sam Laney and Jon Benjamin Laney.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Food Pantry or to Sanctuary Hospice House.
