He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Rogers and Lela Dozier Rogers; his grandparents, George, Mattie Dozier and Betty Rogers; his siblings, Robert Harris, Ann Jew and Hattie Archer; and his grandson Bralin Gates.
He is survived by: his children, Timothy Berry, Lorianne Mathiasen, Tina Alexander, Billy Joe Gates, Jr. (Chelsey) and Sonya Gates (Antwon); his stepchildren, Micheal Humphrey, Lee Humphrey and Linda Humphrey; his close friend Linda Schooler; and his siblings, Mary Grace Lipsey, Mattie Rogers, Alice Smith (Robert), Dorthy Pegues (Tommy), Authur Lee Rogers and Louis Rogers (Annie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
