With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Wessye Byrd Heard (Natchez, Mississippi), born in Meadville, Mississippi, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 30, 2024 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Hardy Byrd and Marlin Nerisa Townsend; her siblings, Edward Byrd, Jeanette Pruett, Peggy Crawford and Jerry Bryd; her husbands, Samuel P. Gore, Oak Duke and Walter Heard; her nieces, Poppy Pruett and Prissy Parker Hobson; her grandchildren, Fleming Gore Havard, Payton Gore and Liza Gore; and her great grandchildren, Jon Todd Mulvihill, Sallie T. Stout, Lalie Havard and George Lawrence Brumfield.
She is survived by: her son Sammy Gore (Carla); her stepchildren, Doug Duke, Mel Duke Ford, Phebe Winters, Walt Heard and David Heard; and her extended family, Mel Duke Ford and Fred Parker.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (117 S Pearl St, Natchez, MS 39120). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, Natchez or the charity of your choice.
