It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John A. Leckie in Natchez, Mississippi, born in Kitchener, Ontario, who passed away on January 6, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ann Scarlett Leckie and John Hugh Leckie; his sister Marilyn Leckie Groves; and his siblings-in-law, Norman Groves of Burlington, Ontario and Mary Lou Miller of Natchez.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Jean Miller Leckie; his children, Andree Leckie Gamberi (Joe) of Natchez, John Miller Leckie (Lynn) of Natchez and Dr. Charles Edwin Leckie (Audrey) of Tupelo, Mississippi.; his grandchildren, Joseph Robert Gamberi III (Ashley) of Natchez, Jonathan Taylor Gamberi (Katy) of Natchez, James Andrew Gamberi (Shellee) of Flowood, Mississippi, Joshua Miller Gamberi (Garyn) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Charles Devon Leckie, Geneva Colleen Leckie, Scarlett Paige Leckie, Mary-Esther Rose Leckie of Tupelo and John Frederick Leckie (Ricky) of Natchez; his great grandchildren, Jon Taylor Gamberi and Adalyn Blake Gamberi of Natchez; his brother-in-law Dr. C. Connell Miller of Natchez; his nieces and nephews, Bob Groves (Kathy) of River Bourgeois, Judy Groves Nice (Frank) of Hamilton, Ontario, Peter John Groves (Linda) of Hamilton, Ontario, Janet Groves Young (Gary) of Dundas, Ontario, Lacie Miller Gorder (Joe) of San Antonio, Texas, Cheryl Miller, David Miller of Houston, Texas and Connell Miller III of Natchez; his grandsons, Joey Gamberi, Jamey Gamberi, Jonathan Gamberi, Josh Gamberi, Devon Leckie and Ricky Leckie; and also, Jane of Washington and Dr. Chuck Borum. He is also survived by his wife, children, and later grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Laird Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 1:00 p. m. to 2:30 p. m. with masks and social distancing required.
