He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Irma Jones Ivory (Willis Ivory) and Mose Chaney; his wife Patricia Ann Chaney; his grandparents, Rev. J. J., Anna Jones, Jessie and Lucy Chaney; his sons, Garnett Chaney, Jr. (Michelle), Darrell Chaney and Brian Chaney (Tuckeeyon); his grandson Daylon Broadway; his stepbrother Floyd Williams; and his aunt Ruby Chaney. He was also cherished by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
