He was predeceased by: his siblings, David Nichols Heard and Elizabeth Milling Heard. He is survived by: his wife Linda Clinton Heard; his children, Bill Heard (Leigh Anne), Clinton Heard (Jennifer) and Elizabeth Heard Suttle (Tommy); his grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah Beth, Drew, Meredith, Elisa Suttle, Nathan, Emmy, Clara, Cole, Hayden, Harrison and Carter Heard; his sister-in-law Judy Wentworth Heard; his nephews, David Heard and Chris Heard; and his niece Sarah Heard Stowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 130 Homochitto Street, Natchez, MS 39120, or to a charity of choice.
