He was predeceased by: his mother Nancy Carmichael Smith; and his stepbrother Mark F. Veal. He is survived by: his father Louis C. Smith; his stepmother Annice Veal Smith; his siblings, Lynn Smith of Natchez, Kay Cook of Kenner, LA, Charlie Smith (Rose Smith) of Oak Grove, MS and Lee Ann Smith (Nicole Bailey Hamilton) of Natchitoches, LA; his stepsister Ellen Veal Reed (Phil) of Kemah, TX; his nieces and nephews, Hunter Cook (Hannah) of Covington, LA, Jennifer Haile (Andrew) of Madison, MS, Jessica Emfinger of Natchez, Chelsi Coleman (Trent) of Natchez and Mark Yeates of Terry, MS; his great-nieces, Ali Haile, Anna Emfinger and Riley Coleman; and his aunt Joan Sartin of Brookhaven, MS. He is also survived by many friends and extended family.
