She was predeceased by: her parents, Josephine Fowler Williams and Tommy Williams; her husband Charles E. Prater; her children, Reginald Prater and Valarie Lyles; and her siblings, Bernice Wallace, Sophie Williams, Tommy, Alonzo Williams and James B. Williams.

She is survived by: her children, Charles Edward Prater (Mary), Ricardo Prater, Jacqueline Nichols and Vanessa L. Ealey; and her sisters, Alberta McFarlane and Ethel Sanders. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
