He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Kilgore Ferguson and Undine Ferguson; his brother O. K. Ferguson, Jr.; his daughter Charlotte Murrell; and his grandson Bennett Jeansonne, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Susanne Avondet (Kevin), Amanda Jeansonne (Benny) and Jim Ferguson (Stephanie); his son-in-law George Murrell; his sisters, Betty Dawson, Undine and Smith (Sonny); and also, Denis Murrell, Susanna Charland (Lucien), Mae Amanda Murrell, Madeline Gibson (Mark), James, William, Andrew Avondet, Benjamin and Layson Ferguson.
