She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Orie Etta Cox; her husband James Newton Messer; and her stepmother Bessie May Robertson. She is survived by: her children, Bobby Messer (Janice), Wayne Messer (Cathy) and Betty Shaffer (Danny); and her sisters, Mable Printz and Vivian Luker. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
