We are sad to announce that on March 16, 2024, at the age of 97, Mel Bounds of Mount Pleasant, Mississippi, born in Meridian, Mississippi passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father John Otis (Mallie Lee Brown Bounds); his wife Johnnie Sue Chisolm Bounds; his parent Mallie Brown Bounds; his sister Sadie Bounds Freeman; his daughter-in-law Theresa White Bounds; his nephews, William Bryan Freeman and Jennings Bryan "Buddy" Freeman, Jr.; his close friends, Louis Ray "Whitey" White and Guy Darnell; and also Mary Harris Bounds.
He is survived by: his brothers, W. B. Abel and Jim; his children, Don Bounds, Debbie Bounds and Dale Bounds; his grandchildren, Robby Null (Stephanie), Kim Bounds Rogers (Clint), Melanie Null, John Bounds (Tracy), Clay Bounds (Jessica), Scott Bounds (Lindsay), Chad Bounds (Morgan) and Regan Bounds; his great grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Millery Null Ingallina (Ben), Abby Null, Erin Eubanks, Abbey Vanderslice, Kenzie Keller, Ethan Eubanks, Syd Eubanks, Piper Delk, Chisolm Bounds, Indy Bounds, Ryder Bounds, Greyson Bounds and Henry Bounds; his great great grandchildren, Merrick Forrest Ingillina, Baylor McLaurin, Brooks McLaurin and Maizy Ingallina; his niece Jennifer Freeman Jackson; his friends, Mary McAboy, Sandra Winham and Nancy Myers; and his great grandchildren, Robby Null, John Bounds, Clay Bounds, Scott Bounds, Chad Bounds and Cohen Keller.
As a Christian he continued to support First Baptist Church as a member for over 50 years, Mount Pleasant Methodist Church (Johnnie Sue's childhood church) and West Kemper Baptist Church (Mel's childhood church) throughout his life, providing funding for youth groups, building additions, church bells, and property donations.
