He was predeceased by: his parents, James Stokes and Mattie Adams. He is survived by: his wife Geneva Dorothy Broughton Stokes; his children, Wanda Stokes McClure (Derrick), Shirley Stokes King (Micheal), Lisa Stokes Little (Micheal), Barbara Stokes Laurent (Husband) and Iygan Johnathan Davison; his siblings, James Stokes (Ruby) and Eddie Lee Stokes; his grandchildren, Lemon Goliday, Eric Stokes, Jessie Rodgers, Codarrel Huges, Regina Stokes, Ebony Turage, Kayani Occe, Erica Anderson and Micheal Little; and his son-in-law Francisse Laurent. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
