He is survived by: his former wife Jo-Ann Burton; his wife Virta M. Reed Cherry; his children, Ethel L. Cherry Magee (Clarence), James E. Pittman, Sr., Robert Cherry Bradfield (Alicia) of Biloxi, MS, Roberta C. Paul Potts and Connstance R. Fairley; his siblings, Gene A. Cherry, Sr. (Clarice), Thomas Stallworth (Mary), Lillie Pearl Nelson of Moss Point, MS, Jean C. Franklin of Pensacola, FL and Shelia Lucas of Detroit, MI; and his aunt Flora Bell Hye of Moss Point, MS. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
