He was predeceased by: his parents, Ganie Spears II and Jessie Spears; his brothers, Ganie Spears III, Levaughn Spears and Norman Spears; and his mother-in-law Dorothy Middleton.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Middleton-Spears; his sons, Leroy Spears Jr., Anthony Spears, Kenneth Spears (Janet) and Curtis Spears (Shandra); his siblings, Sterling Spears of Brewton, AL, Robert Spears of Brewton, AL, Georgia M. Spears, Rita Spears-Lymon and Sonia Spears-McCall; his father-in-law Ervin Middleton Sr.; and his close friends, Charles "Sipp" Matthew, Cleve Smith, Ronald Middleton and Paula Hudson. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and in-laws.
