He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sheldon Fleming, Sr. and Helen Olivia Robertson Fleming (Shirley Stewart Fleming); his sister Roma Rea "Pug" Fleming Simmons; his brother-in-law O. C. "Peck" Simmons; his parents-in-law, Toxie H. and Ethel Seal Stewart; his brother Farrell; and his siblings-in-law, Earline Stewart and Richard Wayne Garrett.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Rose Stewart; his son John S. Fleming III; his daughter-in-law Donna Sebastian Fleming of Ocean Springs, MS; his daughter Julie Suzanne Fleming of Alexandria, VA; and his great grandchildren, Anna E. Fleming, John Sebastian Jones, Elliot Vance Jones of Pascagoula, MS, Kate Sawyer (Ric), Emma Irene Sawyer, James Cullen Sawyer of Ocean Springs, MS, John Andrew S. Fleming (Rebecca), Lela Rose Fleming and Cora Lane Fleming of Hattiesburg, MS. He is also survived by eight nephews, one niece, and their extended families.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 27th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home (4811 Telephone Rd, Pascagoula, MS 39567). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 28th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church of Pascagoula (2710 Pascagoula St, Pascagoula, MS 39567). A burial was held on Saturday, September 28th 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Machpelah Cemetery (5112 Macphelah Rd, Pascagoula, MS 39581).
