He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Gardner and Josie B. Gardner; his wife Sarah Ann Gardner; and his brothers, Frank Gardner and George A. Gardner.
He is survived by: his son V. Maurice Montgomery (Kim) of Fayetteville, NC; his granddaughters, Sarah Montgomery of Moss Point, MS, Lucy Collier of Columbus, GA and Elizabeth Harris of Vicksburg, MS.; his sisters, Willie Mae Kline (Willie) of Moss Point, MS, Deloris Polk (Alan) of Las Vegas, NV, Edna Gardner of Aurora, IL, Jeanette Shipp of Aurora, IL and Annie Pearl Nervis (Joe) of Aurora, IL; his sisters-in-law, Mary Gardner, Ethel Ruth Gardner and Ora Lee White; and his close friend Rita Wright of Moss Point, MS.. He is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews.
