He was predeceased by: his wife Flora Carol Kennedy; his parents, Noah Kennedy and LeeAnna Gladney Thompson; his stepfather DeLeon Thompson; his brothers, James Kennedy, Ronald "Chop" Thompson and Garner Ted Thompson; his niece Valarie McCorvey-Nettles; and his nephew Kevin Thompson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Robert Gladney, Alice Faye McCorvey and Carolyn Thompson; his godson Elder David Brown; his sisters-in-law, Ida Pearl Kennedy, Edna "Barbara" Thompson, Dorotha Zinnimon, Dorothy Lundy, Rosie Carlisle, Nettie Williams and Mabel Franklin; his nieces and nephews, Constance Kennedy, James L. Kennedy, Jr., Gary Kennedy, Derek Kennedy (Shelbi), Bridgette Kennedy-Tait (Alfred), Willie "Bert" McCorvey (Jocelyn), Erika Knowles (Carlos), Andrew Gladney (Annette), Philip Gladney (Kimberly), Brian Thompson, Iesha Laster and Patrick Laster; and also Bishop John Eric Brown.
