He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston Rainey and Verna Mae Rainey of Rainey Community. He is survived by: his wife Aline Boleware Rainey of Moselle; his children, Mona Dunn (J. P.) of Sumrall and Howard Holmes of Moselle; and his siblings, Rachel Griffith, Judy Turner (Terry), Susan Holmes (Robert) and Gerald Rainey (Myrtle). He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
