He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sharplin and Betty Sharplin; his wife Sarah Sharplin; and his son Micheal Sharplin. He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Dauda of Hattiesburg, Jeanette Jackson (Mike) of Hattiesburg, Linda Knight (Eddie) of Seminary, James Turner (Brenda) of Moselle, Ronald Turner (Sherry) of Petal and Eugene Sharplin of Sumrall; and his siblings, Betty Thompson of Jackson, Hilda Myers of Jackson and Purvis Sharplin (Linda) of Magee. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren.
