The passing of Vernon Melvin Parker of Morton, Mississippi leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on January 22, 2025 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Parker and Billy Parker; his grandson Brian Gilbert; and his son-in-law Jeff Jones. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Blissett Parker; and his daughters, Sherry Jones, Janice Gilbert (Tim) and Patty Cumberland (Rodney). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandsons.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Leesburg Baptist Church (796 MS-481, Morton, MS 39117). A burial was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery (796 MS-481, Pelahatchie, MS 39145).
