He was predeceased by: his parents, James P. Shepherd Sr. and Grace P. Derrick Shepherd; his son James M. "Jimmy" Miles Shepherd; his granddaughter Kristin P. Wallace; his aunt Ulma; his uncle Jim Miles; and his brother-in-law Tommy D. Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Mary Shepherd; his children, Suzanne Easterling (Randy), Sherry Wallace (Ken), Steve Shepherd (Jinna) and Stacey Shepherd; his sister Shirley Schwartz; his sister-in-law Shirley Brown; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Casey, Zach, Lindsay, Megan, Ethan, Seth and Kallie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
