He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank S. Hamilton and Bertha Mae "Woody" Hamilton; and his brother Frank "Pepper" Hamilton. He is survived by: his children, Whit Hamilton and Chrissi Papworth (Tom); his grandchildren, Will and Natalie; his siblings, Kerry Hamilton and Sheilah Pantin; his brothers-in-law, Lucius Lamar and Bob Pantin; and his former wife Joan Hamilton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society- Hope Lodge of Jackson, Mississippi.
