He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Albert Petty, Nona Pollock Petty, Clyde Lewis and Pearl Moulds Lewis; his parents, Albert Edward Petty and Mary Katherine Lewis Petty; his brother James Edward Petty; and his sister-in-law Elsie C. "Dixie" Wiggins Petty.
He is survived by: his brother Richard L. Petty; his sister-in-law Regina Petty; his nieces, Alise C. Davis (Scott) and Anne M. Vinlander (Vinai); his nephew John E. Petty (Elizabeth); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lindsey J. Davis, Caroline K. Davis, Andrew E. Davis, Nathaniel E. Petty, Jasmine E. Vinlander and James V. Vinlander.
In Lieu of flowers, Ron's family requests that donations be made to The Room in the Inn, Memphis, TN (where Alise works) ritimemphis.org or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Ronald Petty's name.
