The passing of James Robert Purnell of Meridian, Mississippi leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on January 19, 2025 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by: his wife Penny Daniel Purnell; and his parents, Glenn "Doc" Purnell and Evelyn Purnell. He is survived by: his brother Frank Purnell; his children, Leslie Rush, III (Tammy) and Laurie Barker (Greg); his grandchildren, Leslie Rush IV (Emily), Neely Brantley (Karl), Andrew Rush (Hallie), Meagan Smith (Josh), Meredith Barker and Madison Barker; and his nieces, Lisa Purnell Moore and Kim Purnell Theros. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Robert Barham Family Funeral Home (6300 MS-39, Meridian, MS 39305). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
The Purnell Family suggests memorials be made as donations to the First Christian Church Organ Fund in lieu of flowers.
