Betty Jo Mayo Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Jo Mayo of Meridian, Mississippi, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 15, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Theodore Roosevelt; her sons, Tony Allen Brown and Kelly Paul Brown; and her granddaughter Kristi Sanders. She is survived by: her parent Artie Mae Alawine (Joyner); her husband Douglas "Doug" Mayo; her children, David Othell Brown (Geri) and Jo Ann Knight (Joe); her stepchildren, Craig Mayo (Miranda) and Monique Mayo; and her brother Paul Alawine (Margaret). She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes (2514 7th St, Meridian, MS 39301). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at the Collinsville United Methodist Church (9114 Church Rd, Collinsville, MS 39325).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in Betty's honor to the Righteous Oaks Recovery Center or to a favorite charity of your choice.
