It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Whitehead Hughes (Mendenhall, Mississippi), who passed away on March 9, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Pinkney Whitehead and Ida Jane Whitehead (Vinson); her children, Mark Anthony Canoy and Jessie Paul; her siblings, Aubrey Whitehead, Onnie Whitehead, Ruthie Hammack and Edna Jane Clark; and her granddaughter Felicia Canoy.
She is survived by: her husband John Hughes; and her children, Luther Dale Canoy, John Richard Canoy (Charleen), Pamela Thompson (Doug), Rita Canoy Gonsalez, Tammy Dreding (Junior) and Mary Kate Noland. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
