He was predeceased by: his daughter Karrie Michelle Cockrell; his stepson Robert Hughes; his parents, JT Cockrell, Sr. and Eva Beatrice Cockrell; and his siblings, Gene Allen Cockrell, Louise and Pauline Gowan.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Bates Cockrell of Mendenhall, MS; his children, Kenneth Cockrell (Trish), Kevin Cockrell (Christy), Keith Cockrell and Kim Woodward (Chester); his stepchildren, Mike Hughes (Regina) and Phyllis Rhodes (Wayne); and his grandchildren, Stephanie McCollum (Greg), London Brown, Harlie Blakeney (Kyle), Bayley Sullivan (Brian), Skylar Woodward, Devon Cockrell (Jackie), Patrick Cockrell (Carley) and Gavin Cockrell. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
