Carrie Lou Abernathy Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Carrie Lou Abernathy of Mendenhall, Mississippi, born in Independence, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 13, 2025 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Redmond and Ethel Newman Redmond; her brothers, Hubert Redmond and Willie Lee Redmond; and her grandson Braxton Higgins.
She is survived by: her husband James Abernathy; her children, Bobby (Connie), Billy (Ashley), James "Bubba" (Sandy), Carolyn, Marilyn (Travis), Brenda (Steve) and Amanda (Calvin "Cocky"); and her siblings, William "Bull" Redmond and Jo Ann Higgins. She is also survived by 22 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee (302 8th Ave SW, Magee, MS 39111). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at the Abernathy Family Cemetery (125 Chester Rd, Mendenhall, MS 39114).
