It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Clinton Nix Sr. of Meadville, Mississippi, born in Bruce, Mississippi, who passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Harris Nix, Sr. and Pearl Smallwood Nix; and his daughter Rebecca Kay Nix Dean. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Nix (Becky); his children, Judith Ann Nix Cline of Plano, Texas and James Clinton Nix, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandchildren, Rebecca Morgan Dean, Stephen Michael Dean, Andrew James Dean, Jeremy Allan Cline, Sarah Katherine Tipler, Alice Ann Nix Dereix and Virginia Ruth Nix; and his great grandchildren, Julia Rebecca Dean, Lillian Kay Dean, Genevieve Mullins Tipler, Xavier Arthur Yves Dereix, Nara Marie Dahila Gereix, Lilianne James Daphne Dereix and Sylvie Eliana Mullins Tipler.

The family requests memorial donations be made in memory of James Clinton Nix, Sr., to The Baptist Children's Village, Post Office Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060 or to Meadville Baptist Church, Building Fund, 80 Edison St, Meadville, MS 39653.

As, members of Diamondhead Lions Club we remember Jim. from our visits to his club in Meadville. Jim was a great Lion for the state of Mississippi. We had visited his club several time over the years. He did a lot for the Lions, serving as Club President, District Governor and many committees. He is in the MS Lions Hall of Fame. A great Lion and greatly missed.”
