He was predeceased by: his parents, Sydney Noel Thornton and Annie Mullins Thornton; his wife Pauline Thornton; his son Herbert Noel "Bubbie" Thornton, Jr.; and his brothers, Sydney and Rudy.
He is survived by: his sons, Larry Thornton (Julie) of Rock Spring, GA and Gary Thornton (Angela) of Brookhaven, MS; his grandchildren, Cassie (Caroline), Burt, Krystle, Garrett (Rachel), Travis, Olivia and Zach; and his great grandchildren, Bella, Elyse, Addi Grace, Colt, Bryson, Smalls and Malekai. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family requests memorial donations be sent to the Midway Cemetery in Meadville.
