She was predeceased by: her parents, Hilton Bates and Bobbie Travis Bates Hofmister; her stepfather R. C. "Tip" Hofmister; her brother Barnett Bates; her nephew Dwain Bates; and her sister Inez Woods.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin Howell (Nikki) of Spring Branch, TX and Kathryn Howell of New Orleans, LA; and her grandchildren, Taylor Howell, Austin Howell, Emma Howell and Kenzie Howell. She is also survived by one niece; four nephews, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
