He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Major Jones, II and Mary Agnes Cowen Jones; his brother Donald D. "Don" Jones; and his wife Jody Murray Jones. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Major "Robin" Jones, IV (Stacey) and Brendan Douglas Jones; his stepson Chris McCallum (Jennifer); his grandsons, Devlin Michael Jones, Mason McCallum and Easton McCallum; his stepgrandchildren, Ashlynn Temple (Jonathan) and Taylor Gautreau; his sisters, Jane Jones Bultman (Norwood) and Lynn Jones Leggett (Chip); his sister-in-law Melissa Massengill Jones; and his brother David Millican. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
